    in General Discussion

There are reasons why the same language has been differentiated based on regions and/or nationality. The most commonly known English variants are American English and British English. And besides tons of similarities, there is a noticeable difference between American and British English. The courses offered by the British English Academy will help you with knowing and using all these differences correctly in your day-to-day lives. Apart from helping you get fluent in speaking English, our courses extend support to improving and enhancing your reading, listening, and writing skills.

The fight- American vs. British English

It is said that initially, the British passed on the language and taught them. However, the difference between American and British English was seen to rise after the first human that came to settle in. And at the time of creating the dictionaries, the spellings of certain words were changed to portray cultural independence in America.

Our courses are carefully designed to help you understand all these changes- spelling, vocabulary, grammar, and anything else that makes a difference between American and British English. It is one of the best spoken English classes in Delhi, and listed below are few differences (examples) that will give you a clear idea about the course:

Spellings (same words with different spellings)

    • American (using "ed" and "og")- Burned, or dreamed, Catalog, or monolog

    • British (using "t" and "ogue")- Burnt, or dreamt, Catalogue, or monologue

Vocabulary (same words with different meanings)

    • American (the front of the car)- Hood

    • British (the front of the car)- Bonnet

    • American (place to stay)- Apartment

    • British (place to stay)- Flat

    Grammar

    • American- Will, Should, Gotten, Don't need to

    • British- Shall, Got, Needn't

    Conclusion

Our courses are outlined and created to help you understand any difference between American and British English that may come your way. We help you shape your English speaking skills, along with helping you improve your reading, listening, and writing with several different tasks. Mentioned above is a brief history of why these two variants differ from each other and a few examples of these differences. We make sure that you can indulge in every conversation, whether you're surrounded by Americans or British folks.
